A 21-year-old jockey was airlifted to hospital after losing consciousness following a horror fall, which left two riders injured.

The most concern was for young female rider Izzy Neale at Warren racecourse in Australia, where racing was then called off for the day.

Fellow jockey Diego Montes de Oca was also unseated and injured in the incident.

Neale was riding Marnoo, while Montes de Oca was on Shadow Dane when the incident happened two furlongs into the mile-long race.

Neale's mount was euthanised after a bad leg injury suffered in the fall.

Racing New South Wales confirmed both jockeys needed hospital treatment, with Neale airlifted to hospital.

The Racing NSW integrity team said Montes de Oca “had a suspected broken left foot” and had been “transferred to Dubbo hospital via ambulance”.

There was one race left on the card, but that was scrapped as emergency services came to assist the two jockeys injured.
