Erling Haaland, Bukayo Saka, Antoine Semenyo and Dominik Szoboszlai are among a host of key FPL assets who enter Gameweek 8 with fresh injury issues, and we’ve got all the news on those players and many more below to keep you in the loop.

No doubt we’ll get a lot of important updates during Friday’s pre-match press conferences, and we’ll update all of the information below once we get word from the managers, but with an early Friday deadline looming it’s worth getting everything we know until then out there in advance to help you make your moves…

Haaland, Saka & Szoboszlai among FPL injury worries for Gameweek 8

Erling Haaland: The Norwegian striker limped from the field towards the end of last weekend’s win over Ipswich Town and gave millions of FPL managers palpitations which only intensified when he missed the midweek Champions League match against AEK Athens – but Enzo Maresca provided a soothing update after that game when he told the media that Haaland was fit enough to have played on Tuesday, and that he is expected to start against Aston Villa during Saturday’s early kick-off.

Antoine Semenyo & Nico O’Reilly: Haaland isn’t Manchester City’s only injury concern. Semenyo will be out for about two months with a knee injury, sadly, so he’s very much a sell in the FPL. O’Reilly, meanwhile, remains a doubt due to a bothersome back injury which he hasn’t been able to shake off. We’d continue to advise against having him in your team.

Bukayo Saka & Christos Tzolis: Saka went down without contact during the midweek match against Bayern Munich and was substituted as a result, and it looks like he sustained a potentially serious quadriceps injury. Whether he’s out for weeks or months we don’t yet know, but he’s almost certainly going to be a sell. Tzolis, meanwhile, could make his comeback against Everton – we’re waiting for an update from Mikel Arteta, but the original timeframe given for his return from a hamstring injury gives him a chance.

Dominik Szoboszlai & Jeremie Frimpong: Both Szoboszlai and Frimpong were hauled off during last weekend’s 2-1 win over Brentford. Frimpong is likely to be out until the November international break, according to Andoni Iraola, while Szoboszlai’s injury is a recurrence of the hamstring issue which has plagued him in recent weeks – his status for the weekend is unclear but while he isn’t set for a lengthy lay-off, he is a doubt.

Emiliano Martínez: Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper suffered a broken jaw during last week’s win over Everton and that will keep him sidelined for a “few weeks,” according to the Argentine’s own social media update. We suspect he’s done until after the next international break. We don’t necessarily think that Mike Penders suddenly becomes a great FPL option given Chelsea’s defensive record this season, but he will be the starter for the next few gameweeks.

Manchester United & Aston Villa assets among FPL worries

Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Benjamin Šeško & Kobbie Mainoo: We’d be here all day going over the specifics of every Manchester United injury, so here are the cliff notes – Šeško is out until the new year, Shaw and Mainoo are major doubts trending towards not playing this weekend, and Rashford is a great big question mark with very little information available regarding what we know to be a hip issue. Given United’s recent form, we’d avoid every last one of their players right now regardless of their health.

Johan Manzambi: Manzambi has taken the Premier League by storm, lit a fuse under an Aston Villa side that struggled before he reached full fitness, and scored the winner against Newcastle last weekend, but also picked up what Unai Emery described as a “small injury” that ruled him out of the Champions League win over Viking. Emery has admitted that he doesn’t know whether Manzambi will be fit to face Manchester City, and it sounds as though we’re in late fitness test territory.

Eli Junior Kroupi: One of last season’s breakout FPL stars, Kroupi hasn’t featured yet this season after undergoing surgery on a foot injury – but is now back in training, and according to ESPN he could be in contention to face Manchester United. We’d still hold fire until he’s playing 90 minutes, but he could become an intriguing differential option in the near future.

Pedro Porro, Omar Marmoush, Destiny Udogie & Sávio: As is tradition, Spurs head towards a big game against Chelsea with quite a few injury concerns, but it sounds as though the likes of Marmoush, Udogie, Porro and Andrew Robertson will all be in contention at least as they work through either minor issues or inch towards a comeback in Porro’s case. Sávio is likely to be out for a couple more weeks, in case you were keen to take a truly gargantuan leap of faith in his recent form.

Kaoru Mitoma, Yankuba Minteh & Mats Wieffer: Another side who always seem to have some lingering injury issues to work through is Brighton & Hove Albion, but they could get both Minteh and Wieffer back this week, according to Fabian Hürzeler, with Wieffer seemingly the more likely of the two. Mitoma’s comeback has been pushed back, and it’s now touch and go as to whether he plays this side of the November international break.

Dean Henderson: The Crystal Palace goalkeeper had been expected back after the last break but remains sidelined by a foot injury. Pierre Sage told the press ahead of the Europa League game against Besiktas that he was back in training and could potentially play against Newcastle on Sunday, but it sounds very much uncertain. Close, at least.

Tino Livramento: Another player likely to miss that particular match is Newcastle’s Livramento, who is back in light training but has not yet been given a return date. We expect that he’ll miss another couple of games.
