The 2026 WNBA Finals between the Golden State Valkyries and Atlanta Dream continues with Game 6 tipping off on Thursday afternoon at 9:30am PT/12:30pm ET at the State Farm Area.
There’s been plenty of chatter around Game 6, with the game time shifting to earlier in the day after the event was moved to a large arena. Game 6 was originally scheduled for 8pm ET at the Gateway Center Area — which seats 3,500 fans — but was moved to the State Farm Arena (seats around 17,000) to meet larger demand.
To add to the excitement, the Valkyries lead the series 3-2 after a Game 5 win, making Game 6 a potential title clinching matchup for the second-year franchise.
With 13 points and three blocks, Valkyries’ Kiah Stokes was the story of the night during Golden State’s 64-55 Game 5 win over the Dream.
The Valkyries’ defense stifled Angel Reese at the Ballhalla, holding her to just seven points and 15 rebounds.
After the game, Stokes reiterated that defense has been a “staple” for the Valkyries all season long. Reese noted that the Dream struggled with shooting, but said she still had belief in a title run for Atlanta.
Heading into Game 6, the Dream will be looking to turn things around after two consecutive losses and defend at home. So far, Atlanta has seen mixed results at home, winning Game 3 and then falling in Game 4.
Both teams should look to improve long range shots — the Dream finished Game 5 with a 23.1 three-point percentage, while the Valkyries ended at 25%. Atlanta coughed up 15 turnovers compared to the Valkyries’ seven.
In terms of the recent scheduling change for the game, Dream head coach Karl Smesko said he wished the day could be a “national holiday.”
“I hope everybody gets to see it somehow and I know that for some people it’s not realistic, they have jobs and won’t be able to make it,” Smesko said. “So I’m disappointed for that but I’m really hopeful that as many people can see the game as possible.”
Valkyries head coach Natalie Nakase said she wasn’t worried about the time change.
“Our fans are gonna show up, show out and like I said, we play for them because they show up,” Nakase said. “They don’t ever miss a beat.”
