Coming into the game, Liverpool were sat 10th in the table, 2 places above the Hammers who found themselves 12th.
Being separated by just 2 points, it was a huge game for both sides to climb up the table and pull away from the relegation zone.

After a minutes silence to remember the sacrifices made by so many during the war, the game kicked off.
West Ham started as they meant to go on, after Viviane Asseyi won a penalty just 5 minutes in after a foul from Fuka Nagano.
Asseyi calmly converted the penalty into the bottom right corner to give the Irons the perfect start on home soil.
Not long later, their flying start continued after Leila Wandeler finished off a beautiful move in the 15th minute, with Seraina Piubel providing the killer pass.

It really was a dream start for West Ham and almost got even better after Piubel put a long range shot over the bar not even 2 minutes after the second goal, whilst Asseyi struck the crossbar 30 minutes in.
Just when they thought it couldn’t get any better, Laia Condina converted from well outside the box and her deflected strike looped over Liverpool keeper, Khiara Keating.
This saw West Ham head into the break 3-0 up after playing some of the best football they’ve played all season, whilst Liverpool offered little to nothing, giving West Ham number 1, Picaud-Inconnu, barely anything to do aside from a few routine catches.
Liverpool saw more of the ball in the opening quarter of the second half, but still didn’t threaten too much, and Picaud-Inconnu was reliable when called upon.
Kelly Gago could’ve added a fourth for West Ham though just before the hour mark, but minutes later, Asseyi did just that to wave any potential doubt away.
She won a free kick on the edge of the box, which she exquisitely curled into the top corner, a simply unsavable strike and potential goal of the season contender.
In the 72nd minute, Liverpool did manage to find a consolation goal to give the traveling fans something to cheer about, after Vivien Endemann’s deflected effort found the back of the net.

Despite desperately trying to find a fifth, with chances from Asseyi and captain, Katie Zelem, the game did finish in a fantastic 4-1 win for West Ham.
West Ham manager, Rita Guarino, said the “feeling is happiness” and the performance meant even more than the result.
On player of the match, Viviane Asseyi, she said “she is extremely important” and “the quality she has is one of our biggest strengths”.

The Irons face a long away trip to Manchester City next Saturday, where Guarino hopes that they can “keep this kind of performance” up and hope to shock one of the WSL’s giants.
The win sees West Ham up to 10th in the WSL, whilst Liverpool fall to 11th, but just the 1 point behind.
Manchester City await West Ham next, where they’ll need to match this performance and more to get a result.
