avannah Dada-Mascoll secured her ‘biggest title to date’ after claiming the women’s doubles title at the Lexus British Pro Series Glasgow, which concluded last weekend.
Dada-Mascoll, who is competing in her first full pro-season, teamed up with Kenya’s Angella Okutoyi for the event which took place from 26 October to 1 November at the Scotstoun Community Indoor Tennis Centre.
On winning the doubles title with Okutoyi, Yorkshire-born Dada-Mascoll said: “It feels great to win such a big event, especially with someone I have so much fun with. We were laughing the whole week and really enjoying ourselves on court.”
The duo caused an upset early on in the competition by defeating recent Lexus Wrexham Open Champions and British top seeds Freya Christie and Eden Silva.
They then faced the number two seeds, Britain’s Amelia Rajecki and Estonia’s Elena Malygina, in the final, which the British-Kenyan pair won 6-3, 6-4 in just 52 minutes after coming from behind in both sets.
On competing at the event in Glasgow, Dada-Mascoll said: “It’s amazing to win at home in Britain; having the crowd with us was really nice. The facilities and the organisation have been great all week, and we’re looking forward to coming back next year.”
The women’s singles title was won by the Netherlands’ Suzan Lamens, who, in her seventh seed, won her biggest title in two years.

Lamens defeated Fiona Crawley, the USA’s fifth seed, in the final 6-4 6-3 after defeating home favourite and sixth seed Alicia Dudeney in her semi final.
On winning the ‘topsy-turvy’ match, Lamens said: “I feel very grateful to win this title. It’s been a tough year for me, but the last few weeks I feel like I’ve been getting back to my best tennis. Everyone has been so lovely all week and super helpful. I played here in Glasgow two years ago and was so happy to come back and have such a fun week.”
The Lexus British Pro Series Glasgow is an international tournament which is part of the LTA’s Performance Competitions Calendar (PCC) which ‘provides significantly enhanced opportunities for British players at each age and stage of the performance player pathway on home soil’.
The calendar ‘is designed to provide comprehensive opportunities for British players to play, earn ranking points and win prize money at home, throughout the year’.
Following the conclusion of the event, the Head of Competitions & Events at Tennis Scotland, Mike Cohen, said: "We've had a fantastic week of tennis here at Scotstoun in Glasgow. Congratulations to the singles champion Suzan Lamens and to Britain’s Savannah Dada-Mascoll and her partner Angella Okutoyi, on their titles, which were thoroughly deserved. It’s been brilliant to see such strong performances all week and great to see so many spectators come out to enjoy the event. Thank you to everyone involved for helping to make this event such a success.”
