Here at Vital Barnsley, we rate the players following our 2 – 1 home defeat to Cambridge.
Ravenhill 5
You can’t say that he made any errors for either goal, but a better keeper would have done better with both.
Noslin 6
A decent performance in many ways. Did well defensively when called upon and did well supporting in attack. His long balls were terrible and positionally he is suspect.
O’Riordan 6
Steady for the most part. Could have possibly done better with the goals.
Shepherd 6
Can see why he has fought his way back into the team. That, however, possibly says more about the other options than how well he is playing.
Kay 7
Pushed Kelly for man of the match. Oozes confidence for such a young player and seems to get better and better each game. All this whilst playing out of position at left back.
McGeehan 6
Neat and tidy but not much more. Not involved enough and allows the opposition to dominate the midfield. Always looks like a goal threat though. He just has that way of popping up in the right place at the right time but the finish at times does elude him.
Kelly 7
Man of the match. Drove the team forward. Got on the ball much more than his midfield partner. He will be disappointed with his part in the second goal.
Yoganathan 7
Scored the goal. A decent game in the number ten role. Got into the pockets of space well and looked to create. Final ball let him down at times.
Brownlie 7
Another that pushed Kelly close for man of the match. His work rate, endeavor and pace were excellent. He never gives the opposition breathing space and won’t give up on a lost cause.
Cleary 7
A slightly below par performance from Cleary who still managed to look our only goal threat. The goal came from his corner, although he did put some shockers in as well. Fans seem frustrated with him when he’s not scoring or assisting two or three per game.
Adeyemo 6
Thrown straight into the team after only signing on Friday following a successful trial period. Looked rusty but did hold the ball up well at times and won a bit in the air. Looks more like a Centre Forward and focal point than anyone who has previously occupied that position this season. But will he be the one to regularly get the goals? I seriously doubt it. I feel he is a back to goal forward who operates bringing others into play and not a fox in box. Five goal a season man maximum.
Stendel 5
For me he is a manager who can only operate when he has high end players. His in-game management leaves a lot to be desired and his ability to see a game out when 1 – 0 up is non-existent. A slight caveat to that is how poor the bench is which makes that task quite difficult. A better tactician would find a way though.
