Vaclav Cerny has reacted to falling to a dramatic defeat on his return to Glasgow with Besiktas.
The winger spent a year on loan at Ibrox two years ago, causing controversy for spraying a water bottle into the home crowd at Celtic Park in a derby. He also scored the winner for Ajax at Parkhead eleven years ago, in what was his first senior goal.
Hoping to create the headlines again on his return, Cerny was part of a Besiktas side thst fell apart despite taking the lead with half an hour to go. Even after equalising in the later stages, they immediately fell back behind to a winner from Camilo Duran.
Speaking after the game, Cerny conceded that his team gave up control of the game, admitting that the Hoops showed their quality in the end.

Celtic BEAT Besiktas 3-2 to pick up their first win in the Europa League! What is your immediate reaction to that? 🤩 WHAT A ROLLERCOASTER!
Asked about his personal disappointment given his previous Glasgow ties, Cerny told TNT Sports: “No, definitely. It stays a special city for me, I always say that. I have amazing memories from two years ago, and I want to keep it that way.”
Asked on his reflection on the 3-2 defeat in general, he continued: “We didn’t win, so that’s not what we came for. Overall, not positive. I had a feeling that the first half we had pretty much under control, so it’s a shame we didn’t continue like this in the second half.
“Then it got a little bit back and forth, it was like a messy, messy game with the goals, so yeah. Not the result we came for.”
“Tough for me to say why, but I just think we should keep the control. We had to try and maintain the position and keep calm on the ball, control the game like we did, for my feeling, in the first half. So that’s not what we did, and unfortunately Celtic showed their quality.”
On the moment when his side thought they had secured a late point, Cerny continued: “Yeah, if you cannot manage to win the game, you have to try not to lose it.
“Again, unlucky, but I have to say, in this season you have so many games. So luckily enough, you can turn it around in a few days again, so heads up and we continue.”
