The San Francisco Giants have some important decisions to make this offseason as they look to reshape their roster and return to contention in the National League West.

After loading up on premier contracts and turning to a rookie manager, the Giants missed the playoffs by a significant margin and could consider a drastic trade or two this winter. In the meantime, the organization has already begun making changes to its player personnel, including several moves involving familiar faces from its major-league roster.

Former San Francisco Giants Pitcher Tristan Beck Leaves Affiliated Baseball After Release

On Wednesday, the LG Twins of the Korea Baseball Organization announced that they have signed long-time Giants reliever and frequent ninth-inning option Tristan Beck on their official Instagram page.

According to the team’s official announcement, the one-year agreement includes a $300,000 signing bonus and a $578,000 salary.

And the signing comes just days after Beck was released by the Giants, ending his time with the organization that originally acquired him from the Atlanta Braves in 2019.

“Beck was just released by the Giants on Monday as part of San Francisco’s culling of the 40-man roster,” Anthony Franco wrote for MLB Trade Rumors. “There’s a decent chance the Giants were going to outright him regardless, but it seems Beck’s camp requested an unconditional release so he could pursue the foreign opportunity.”

The move gives Beck a chance to continue his professional career after four seasons in the major leagues, all with San Francisco.

The Giants originally acquired Beck from Atlanta in July 2019 as part of the trade that sent reliever Mark Melancon to the Braves. A Stanford product, he made his major-league debut in April 2023.

Across 85 appearances, including five starts, Beck recorded a 5-3 record with a 4.08 ERA and 176 2/3 innings pitched for San Francisco.

His career also included a significant health setback in 2024, when he underwent surgery to address an aneurysm in his throwing arm. He returned to the Giants later that season but struggled to establish a consistent role following his recovery.

Beck appeared in 14 major-league games during the 2026 campaign, recording a 5.21 ERA across 19 innings.

Now, the 30-year-old right-hander will have an opportunity to rebuild his career in South Korea, where the LG Twins will hope his experience in multiple pitching roles translates into a productive 2027 season.
