1996 F1 world champion Damon Hill has called for Ferrari to make Lewis Hamilton their number one driver after yet more drama with Charles Leclerc at the Mexican Grand Prix.
Just as they did at the Dutch and Italian Grands Prix earlier this season, Hamilton and Leclerc made the headlines for all of the wrong reasons last time out in Mexico City, involved in a scuffle on lap one that may have cost the team the victory.
Hamilton certainly felt that way post-race, having dropped down to P3 after the incident. Leclerc was eventually given a penalty for his part in what happened, but that allowed Max Verstappen to take the lead - something he maintained right through to the chequered flag.
Post-race, Hamilton questioned Leclerc's mentality and called for 'serious' talks behind the scenes, while Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur was left fuming with the 'huge disrespect' the drivers had shown the team.
Hill has now offered his take on the ongoing Ferrari soap opera, arguing that the Scuderia should back Hamilton as their main man moving forward.
"Here is where I stand on the Lewis v Charles debate," Hill wrote on X. "And I made this point in my commentary on BBC Radio 5 Live on Sunday in Mexico: make Lewis the #1 Ferrari driver. Sort it out. Make it clear. Ends all debate.
"Lewis will deliver for Ferrari. If they back him 100%."

A few days away from the track have not eased tensions, with Hamilton doubling down on comments questioning Leclerc's mindset ahead of this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix.
Asked by the media if he feels Leclerc races him harder than others, Hamilton replied, via Sky Sports: "Yes."
The Seven-time champion continued: "I see what you see. Singapore, he was fully [alongside Verstappen], wheel to wheel, fully on the inside for the lead at Turn 1 Singapore, and I think it was definitely different.
"But, I mean, if you look at the teammates, it was the same with Sebastian [Vettel], it was the same with Carlos [Sainz]."
Leclerc, meanwhile, did not face the media due to arriving to this weekend's grand prix late after he and his wife Alexandra welcomed their baby daughter, Bianca, this week.
His take on Hamilton's comments once he faces the media will certainly be interesting to hear.
