Defenceman man Jason Fram has been signed by the Belfast Giants for the remainder of the 2026/27 season.

From Vancouver, the 31-year-old defenceman joins the Giants following a strong season in Glasgow, during which, he contributed 28 total points in 67 games as the Clan made it to their first Playoff Finals Weekend in 12 years.

Before arriving in the Motorpoint Elite League, Fram made more than 240 appearances for sides across North America, China, and Italy, including the San Jose Barracuda, Allen Americans, Kunlin Red Star, KRS-BSU Beijing, and Asiago.

Before turning professional, Fram enjoyed three seasons with the University of Alberta between 2016 and 2019, recording an impressive 61 total points in 69 regular seasons games for the Golden Bears.

During his decorated collegiate career, Fram accumulated a number of accolades, including being named a two-time USports All-Canadian First Team member and two-time USports Defenceman of the Year, as well as being crowned a USports University Cup champion in 2018.

“Jason is a very mobile defenceman who has a good hockey IQ. His experience and understanding of this league make the transition easy,” said Belfast Giants head coach Adam Keefe.

He added: “He's a very good person and should fit straight into our group. I’m looking forward to working with him.”

At international level, Fram has made 13 appearances for Team China, including four at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, picking up the World Championship Division II gold medal and the World Championship Division I bronze medal in 2022/23.

Commenting on joining the Belfast Giants, Jason Fram said: “I'm really looking forward to joining the Belfast Giants.

“Playing in the league, you know how the team operates, and I've only heard great things about the organisation, city, and fans. I can't wait to hit the ground running and get things going.”

The Belfast Giants return to The O2 Belfast for a double-header against the Guildford Flames on next weekend (Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November).
