The Philadelphia 76ers have burst out of the gate in the 2026-27 season, and after Friday night’s 98-93 victory over the New York Knicks, they sit at 5-1. Now, one revelation from LeBron James is making the rounds across the internet.

LeBron James Is Happy to Play for the 76ers

In a recent ESPN article,Kris Rhim reported that James opened up about his decision to join the 76ers following Friday’s victory.

The four-time NBA champion expressed his happiness with his new situation, suggesting that his move to Philadelphia has been a positive chapter in his legendary career.

“I’m having a great time… I’m a big [expletive] kid, to be completely honest, but these guys are great to be around, and I’m more than happy that I’ve made the decision to come here. James said as per Rhim.

James’ comments soon went viral on social media, and the NBA community quickly reacted.

ESPN previously reported that James had grown frustrated with aspects of how the Lakers treated him late in his tenure. One example came on March 31, 2026, when the Lakers beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, and James set the NBA record for combined regular-season and playoff wins, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Instead of presenting the game ball to James or one of the key players, general manager Rob Pelinka gave it to coach JJ Redick to mark his 100th coaching win. Sources close to James told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin that LBJ viewed it as “another example” of the Lakers “taking him for granted.”

Now that James has expressed his happiness in Philadelphia, some fans believe the 76ers are providing him with the appreciation he deserves.

“LeBron is finally playing for a franchise who appreciates him and embraced him from Day One and they’re not secretly rooting for him to fail simply because he’s better than their basketball idol,” one fan said, whereas another one wrote, “Real Bron fans knew this when he signed,u can tell he’s having fun playing again.”

At this stage of his career, James no longer has to carry the full burden every night. With a talented group around him consisting of Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Jaylen Brown, he can pick his spots and still make a major impact. Now fans believe the lighter load has put the joy back in his game.

“Bron is able to relax and let the young dudes do work while he picks and chooses at his age. Like JB, Tyrese and VJ run the floor; him and Embiid chill and pick their spots. Perfect,” said one fan, whereas another one wrote, “Found his joy back.”

Six games is a small sample, and a long season lies ahead. But the early signs are encouraging for the 76ers. The team is winning, the locker room appears to be buying in, and its biggest star seems genuinely content.
