However, Harpur mounted an impressive comeback, collecting five shots over the following three ends to reduce the deficit to just two. Burke held his nerve on the final end, adding a single shot to secure a 9-6 victory and his place in the final.

Morrison edged ahead in the early stages before Armstrong responded with a three on the fourth end to move 4-2 in front. Morrison then produced a decisive spell, collecting three shots on the sixth end and another three on the seventh to establish a 9-4 advantage. Armstrong claimed two on the penultimate end, but it wasn't enough to stop Morrison and Browne progressing to the final.
The final brought together the two experienced Wellington pairs, skipped by Burke and Morrison, with both pairs having demonstrated their quality throughout the evening.
Burke's pairing made an excellent start, collecting two shots on the opening end before adding another on the second to establish an early 3-0 lead.
