Big concern: European giants are in talks over signing £58.4m Liverpool “superstar”

Bayern Munich are still interested in signing Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha, according to a concerning new transfer update from journalist Christian Falk.

The 18-year-old is one of the Reds’ most exciting young players in years, with his speed, dribbling ability and improving end product making him a nightmare for defenders.

Liverpool will be aware that Ngumoha is out of contract in 2028, and that other top clubs would love to have him, so tying him down to a new deal is of the utmost importance.

Now, journalist Falk has claimed on his website, CF Bayern Insider, that Bayern are still in contact over a move for the £58.4m-rated Englishman in the near future:

“It is TRUE: Bayern Munich were prepared to pay €70m [£58.3m] for Rio Ngumoha. As we know, Bayern have been searching really hard for options on the left wing. We talked about Bradley Barcola, whom they were in contact with, and they were also in contact with Liverpool’s young talent.

“There were talks, his brother talked with FC Bayern, but it was a difficult situation for Bayern Munich. It was not clear if Liverpool would sell him or not. The price wouldn’t have been extremely high. So, you see, the club’s decision-makers feel he’d be a great option for Bayern Munich, which is why Ngumoha is still on Bayern’s shortlist.

“In the end, they had to decide for Ismael Saibari. Rio would have been complicated, so they just looked to seal the comparatively easier transfer of the two. Bayern are still in talks with Ngumoha’s camp, however, and he could be an option for the summer.”

Liverpool must tie Rio Ngumoha down to a contract extension

Ngumoha is one of Liverpool’s biggest assets currently, given his world-class potential, with Reds legend Jamie Carragher describing him as a “future superstar.”

Seeing him depart for Bayern or someone else would, therefore, be an enormous blow for the club, and is something that must be avoided in 2027.

Ngumoha merits a bumper new deal, having arguably already become a key starter for Andoni Iraola, and the sky is the limit for him if he avoids serious injury.

Hopefully, the winger is happy at Liverpool, which has been reported, and he has aspirations of becoming a Reds icon over time.
