The Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks meet on the hardcourt for the second time this season, but this time in an NBA Cup matchup.

The star-studded Sixers led by LeBron James, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid will look to take down the New York Knicks, which became the first team to capture the NBA Cup and Finals title in the same season last year.

While New York will be mostly healthy with All-Stars Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and the rest of the Knicks starters available, the Sixers might be without Brown as the All-NBA forward deals with a knee injury.

If Brown can't go, it would be a big loss for a Sixers team looking to go 2-0 against New York and hoping to improve on its 4-1 record this season.

Will Brown miss his first game as a Sixer? Check the potential lineups and how to watch Sixers-Knicks below:

The Emirates NBA Cup is the league's annual in-season tournament, which was started in 2023 to help drive interest in the early season schedule. The competition features group play and knockout rounds with players and teams competing for a prize pool of money that increases based on how far a team advances.

The first games of the 2026 NBA Cup will take place on Friday, Oct. 30, when group play begins. Subsequent games are scheduled every Friday through Nov. 27. There will also be NBA Cup games on Tuesday, Nov. 24 and Wednesday, Nov. 25.

The league's 30 teams were separated into six groups featuring five teams in August. The NBA determined the groups using a draw system that placed each team in a pod based on their record during the 2025-26 season. The draw placed one team from each pot into each of the three groups in both the Eastern and Western Conferences.

Despite it being the frontend of a back to back, James and Embiid will likely play tonight against the Knicks as the team plays its first NBA Cup game.

The Sixers-Knicks game will tipoff at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The Sixers-Knicks game will be broadcast on nationally. Here's how to watch:

• Jaylen Brown: Questionable (knee)

• Jabari Walker: Out (left knee soreness)

• Tacko Fall: Out (quadriceps)

• Dominick Barlow: Out (Likely to miss two weeks with lumbar spine bone stress response)

• Ariel Hukporti: Out for season (right Achilles tendon rupture/tear)

LeBron James jerseys are now available via the NBA's official retailer, Fanatics. They are for preorder only and will ship on or before Aug. 21. The "Swingman" jerseys cost $124.99, plus taxes and shipping. The "Fast Break" jerseys cost 74.99, plus taxes and shipping.

The acquisition of James has put the franchise back in the NBA spotlight.

This season, Philadelphia will play a franchise-record and league-maximum 34 nationally televised games. Here's a look at some of the featured matchups:
