The Washington Commanders’ Sunday night win against the Philadelphia Eagles marked their first full game without star wide receiver Terry McLaurin. To honor McLaurin, Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels gave him a shout-out after the Commanders’ first touchdown. Washington’s other receivers also did the signature “Scary Terry” move.
Rookie Antonio Williams, who led the Commanders in this game with seven targets, explained that the receiver group decided to do the “Scary Terry” to make him smile as he watched the game.
“That’s my dog, and to see him go down kind of hurt all of us,” Williams said. “But, we all came together, and the receiver group said we just going to keep spamming the “Scary Terry” move because I know he probably watching from home; made him smile. So, that is what it was for.”
McLaurin suffered his injury against the San Francisco 49ers. He tore his patellar tendon, which will keep him out for the rest of the season. Without him in the lineup, Washington will be running a receiver committee. In their win against the Eagles, Williams had the most targets, but Treylon Burks had the most receiving yards. Stefon Diggs also had the only receiving touchdown of the game.
With the win, Washington moved to 2-4-1, putting them back in the NFC East playoff race. They’ll look to build on this momentum when they face the Los Angeles Rams in Week 9.
