Tomas Soucek recently signed a new contract at West Ham United but the Czech Republic international admits that he may still consider a return to Slavia Prague when his current deal expires.
He is already the club’s longest-serving player, having joined all the way back in 2020, but Soucek extended his stay at the London Stadium by another couple of seasons recently. West Ham United’s number 28 is now under contract until the summer of 2028.

What are your thoughts on Nuno? How confident are you that he's the man to lead West Ham back up? 🤔 He continues to split opinion…
There have also been suggestions that Soucek plans to retire from professional football as a West Ham player later down the line.
Speaking to Czech publications Seznam Zpravy and Idnes ahead of the weekend’s clash with West Bromwich Albion, however, Tomas Soucek insists that his future plans are far from set in stone.
Soucek still feels he has unfinished business at Slavia Prague, the club where he won two Czech titles. That, though, depends on how long he can keep performing at a decent level, with his 32nd birthday approaching.
“I always wanted to return to Slavia,” the experienced midfielder admits. “But, at the same time, I have to see how my body is doing and how I will perform. I don’t want to return anywhere for the sake of merit. Moreover, I never want to look too far ahead. I’m looking at the next month or two at most.
“Maybe it was written, but I never said [that I want to retire at West Ham]. I have a two-year contract, then we’ll see.”
For the time being, promotion to the Premier League is the only thing on his mind. West Ham are currently on track to pick up 84 points, well short of the title-winning average of 95 over the last decade.
Nuno getting one of his most dependable performers back to full fitness should help, though. Soucek scored his 50th West Ham goal in stoppage time against Southampton, though it came too late to salvage a point.
“I like challenges that I can overcome,” he says. “I’m looking forward. I’m looking forward to fighting for
the Premier League.”
