NEED TO KNOW

  • Tom Brady accidentally cursed during a live Fox NFL Sunday broadcast for the second time this year

  • Brady blurted out the expletive after incorrectly naming Drew Brees during a Fox NFL Sunday quiz on Nov. 1

  • The Fox analyst made a similar on-air slip while reacting to Jayden Daniels’ injury during a live broadcast in September

Tom Brady dropped a swear word on live TV — just about a month after he made headlines for using the same curse word during another broadcast.

The 49-year-old NFL alum and sports announcer said “Oh, s---” during a live Fox NFL Sunday broadcast on Sunday, Nov. 1. The moment came as Brady fumbled a response during a “Who’s in Third?” quiz with fellow quarterback-turned-broadcaster Drew Brees.

As the Fox Sports lead NFL analyst and Brees, 47, did the quiz about which quarterback ranks in third place in different all-time league achievements, the New England Patriots legend accidentally answered the final question with Brees — despite Brees already being on the list in No. 1.

Asked who has the third most career games with more than 300 passing yards behind Brees and himself in first and second place, respectively, Brady said, “Drew Brees!” which he then immediately followed up with, “Oh, s---!”

As Brady accidentally blurted out the expletive he looked off-camera slightly. He then quickly turned back, seemingly upon realizing that he’d sworn on the air, and appeared to say, “Ope.”

The analyst’s eyes also went wide and he put his hands out in front of his face in the aftermath of the accidental on-air expletive.

Brady, Brees and the rest of the Fox NFL Sunday laughed off his gaffe as Peyton Manning was revealed to be the correct answer to the final question of the quarterback quiz.

Brady’s Week 8 cursing during the Nov. 1 broadcast comes over a month after he first accidentally blurted out a swear word on-air during Week 2.

The first “oh, s---” was a reaction to Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels’ serious left elbow injury, which he suffered in the first half of the team’s Week 2 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 20.

As a replay of the injury was shown on Fox’s broadcast, Brady couldn’t help but share a genuine reaction. During the live broadcast, he questioned if a player’s “foot came over” before Daniels suffered the injury and said, “Was that a center? [Nick] Allegretti — oh, s---.”

Brady then immediately realized his live blunder and said, “Excuse me,” before telling viewers that he was “not expecting to see that.”

The former Patriots quarterback made his debut on Fox Sports in 2024. He has faced criticism for his broadcasting skills since — including recently, for making a series of critical comments regarding the officiating in the Lions-Packers game, which could lead him to face major fees.

Brady, who is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, could be found in violation of the “Brady Rules” broadcasting agreement, which the NFL established due to Brady’s desire to work in the broadcasting booth while also helping to oversee the Raiders — and which comes with a $500,000 first-time violation fine.

But Brady recently told Sports Business Journal he’s not concerned with his critics. “It’s clickbait for people, and it’s something that people have no idea what they’re really glomming onto,” he told the outlet in the interview ahead of his third season in the booth.

“They just put it out there in the world and see what sticks,” Brady said. “So to me, I just focus on what I need to do to be prepared. That’s what I did as a player, and I go out there every week as a broadcaster and try to do the same thing.”

The former quarterback admitted he still has “a lot to prove to myself, my teammates,” as well as “the executives,” but said he’s eager to find his way. “I want to go earn it,” he told Sports Business Journal, “and I don’t want anything given to me. I hope they’ll have me through the end of this contract. I love getting to enjoy the game. I love watching good football.”
