Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi will not be attending the Ballon d’Or ceremony at the London Palladium this Monday evening, according to information from RMC Sport.
Whilst no fewer than 10 of his players feature amongst the 30 nominees for the prestigious award, the Parisian club chief has decided to give the event a miss, as he will be at the Parc des Princes tonight to support his team against Olympique Lyonnais in their postponed match from the eighth round of the league.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (25), who is due to undergo knee surgery, Nuno Mendes (24), and seven of their team-mates – all of whom are in the squad named by Luis Enrique for this match against Lyon – will therefore be absent from the ceremony. Ousmane Dembélé (29), the reigning champion and a contender to retain his title, will thereby be the sole Rouge et Bleu representative present in the English capital.
