Colts vs. Vikings 3 things to know, plus a bold prediction

Up next for the Indianapolis Colts is a road matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Colts will enter this game at 2-4 and in desperate need of a win. Minnesota, meanwhile, is 5-0 and coming off their bye week.

As part of our matchup preview, here are three things to know, plus a prediction.

A very aggressive Vikings' defense

Under defensive coordinator Brian Flores, the Minnesota Vikings blitz a lot -- and I mean a lot. This season, the Vikings are blitzing on 65% of their defensive snaps. The next closest team is the Giants at 38%. As a result, Minnesota leads the NFL in pressure rate.

The challenge is that not only do the Vikings blitz often, but Flores will do so in a variety of ways, blitzing multiple defenders regularly and sending players from all parts of the field. The Colts' pass protection and pre-snap communication will have to be on point, or it could be a long day for Daniel Jones and the offense.

Can the Colts contain Vikings WR Justin Jefferson?

Jefferson is among the top wideouts in the NFL, and the Colts are going to be without Sauce Gardner in this game due to injury. Jefferson has caught 19 passes for 258 yards with three touchdowns this season. In each of his first six seasons, he has surpassed the 1,000-yard receiving mark, including eclipsing 1,400 yards four times.

The Colts secondary has been susceptible to giving up the big passing play this season, and if the pass rush again struggles to create pressure, that puts more stress on the cornerbacks to stick in coverage longer with Jefferson.

Colts vs. Vikings bold prediction

There are seemingly countless reasons to pick against the Colts in this game after how the season and the last week have unfolded. However, ESPN's Seth Walder feels differently. His bold prediction for the week is that the Colts find a way to win.

"The Colts will win. It doesn't make sense: The Vikings are undefeated, and the Colts literally just fired their general manager," Walder wrote. "But football doesn't always make sense. And I can't get over the fact that the Vikings have recorded a minus-0.09 EPA per play with QB Kyler Murray on the field this season. One of these games, Flores' defense won't be able to secure a win on its own."
