FSU falls in new USA TODAY Sports' college football re-rank

Florida State football fell to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in ACC play after a 36-24 loss to the Clemson Tigers. Ultimately, the Seminoles fired Mike Norvell on Sunday following the loss.

After the game, Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports moved Florida State down to No. 60 in his weekly re-rank of all 138 FBS teams. He moved them down three spots from No. 54 last week.

Surrounding the Seminoles are the No. 59 Illinois Fighting Illini and No. 61 Iowa State Cyclones. The Illini went and 9-4 and defeated Tennessee in the Music City Bowl, while Iowa State went 8-4, and did not participate in a bowl game.

The top five is made up of the Miami Hurricanes, Georgia Bulldogs, Utah Utes, BYU Cougars, and Indiana Hoosiers. Jacksonville State was the biggest riser of the week, going up 17 spots.

Florida State is still the 10th-best ACC team per Myerberg's rankings, far behind the Miami Hurricanes at No. 1. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are up to No. 15, and Virginia Tech is third in the ACC at No. 24.

FSU will look to improve when they travel to Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, to take on the Boston College Eagles on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET. Fans can catch the game on the ACC Network.
