Team News for Chelsea vs. Tottenham

Chelsea suffered a setback when Reece James was ruled out for the rest of the year after undergoing minor knee surgery. Emiliano Martinez has undergone successful surgery on a fractured jaw and is out for the foreseeable future.

Pep Chavarria picked up an injury in training and was ruled out of the Everton game, so he remains doubtful for the London derby. Malo Gusto (illness) missed the Everton trip but has had a week to recover. Meanwhile, Jamie Gittens and Emmanuel Emegha are yet to feature in the Premier League this season and remain out.

The Blues have enjoyed dominance over Spurs for decades and have lost just once in 34 Premier League encounters at home. Alonso’s side have stronger attackers who can hurt the opposition anytime and decide games. Tottenham will have avenues to cause problems for Chelsea through transitions, and winning over Coventry should give De Zerbi’s boys some confidence to make it a tight affair.
