F1 star Esteban Ocon has released a statement after his shock replacement at Haas midway through this weekend's Mexican Grand Prix, denying any allegations that physical violence led to his exit.
We have known for some time now that Ocon would not be back in the Haas car for 2027, but little did we know that he would not make it to Sunday's race in Mexico City, with the team confirming that Ryo Hirakawa would be in his car for the rest of the weekend ahead of FP3.
Haas also confirmed that Ocon was not suffering from any illness, but did not specify the exact reason they had made the change. What we do know is that he was involved in a tense radio exchange with his engineer, Laura Muller, during FP2 and that he was not happy with Haas changing his run plan in the session.
Reports elsewhere have claimed that a 'big discussion' happened after the session, while others claim that Ocon 'threw his gloves on the table' in Haas' hospitality suite.
The most explosive claim came from French outlet L'Equipe, which speculated that a 'physical altercation' had taken place with Haas boss Ayao Komatsu.
Ocon has now come out and categorically denied those claims, condemning the use of violence and saying it played no part in what went down this weekend.
"Following the recent decision from Haas F1 Team confirming that I will not be participating in this weekend’s Mexico City Grand Prix, I wish to formally address some media reports and speculation surrounding the situation," Ocon wrote on social media.
"Last night, a difference in viewpoints led to a discussion with the parties involved. Whilst I acknowledge that this took place, I categorically reject any reports or allegations suggesting that any form of physical violence was used to resolve any differences of any nature.
"I strongly condemn violence in all its forms and firmly believe that disagreements should always be handled with professionalism, respect, and mutual understanding.
"I kindly ask that speculation be avoided while the matter is being addressed. Further updates will be communicated in due course."
At this stage, it is unclear whether or not Ocon will be back in the Haas car for next weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix.
