Conor McGregor has announced that his next fight will be officially be his last - at least in the cage.
The former two division UFC champion ended a five-year hiatus back in July when he took on Max Holloway, but his comeback ended in defeat after he injured his knee just seconds into the contest in Las Vegas. McGregor later revealed he tore his ACL in the rematch, and faces a year out of the cage, but has vowed to return to action following surgery.
With McGregor continuing to recover from his brutal ACL injury ahead of a hopeful return next year, the Dublin brawler admits his next outing will be his last. And he has promised that his return will be his biggest fight to date. The 'Notorious' currently holds the record for the most pay-per-view sales in UFC history - his meeting with rival Khabib Nurmagomedov back in 2018.
The UFC icon's boxing dust-up with Floyd Mayweather also smashed all kinds of records and is recognised as one of the biggest selling bouts of all time in the sport. He hopes to return next summer on International Fight Week 2027 - which will serve as his last fight on his current UFC contract.

After watching Canelo Alvarez's win over Christian Mbilli on Saturday, McGregor took a brutal swipe at the Mexican's star power. 'Saul' is widely-regarded as one of the biggest names in boxing, but McGregor disagrees and expects his final bout to break many records.
Taking to X - formerly known as Twitter - he wrote: ”How many views did the Canelo fight get? How many in attendance? Gate? Man I outdo ALL of these people in sales. Majorly. EVERY SINGLE ONE. With ease. Maybe even combined. I don’t even be trying.”
“I was on the same time as the World Cup semi final and still done all them numbers in that last bullshit that I’ve to sit with for another few months before I return. I’m going to actually try to sell the fight for my next one. My final fight. See what numbers I can generate. Keep outdoing my own records.”
Whether his next UFC fight will be his last remains to be seen. The Irish scrapper has recently been linked to a fight with boxing star Conor Benn. A fake poster of the fight was posted on social media last week, and Benn was quick to share the poster, responding with: "Any day of the week."
Benn is currently enjoying some time away from the boxing ring after he was stopped by Ryan Garcia in the second round of their world title fight back in September. The 'Destroyer's future remains up in the air, but is expected to return to the squared-circle in 2027.
