‘Fire Some More (People)’ — Shannon Sharpe Predicts Colts Owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon’s Next Move Following Blowout Loss to Jaguars

After a surprising 8-2 start to the 2025 season fell apart, in part due to injuries, many had high expectations for the Indianapolis Colts as they retained most of their talent and added to the roster during the 2026 offseason. However, the moves by former general manager Chris Ballard and owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon have not paid off, as Indianapolis has started the 2026 season 2-6 and is fresh off a 42-7 thrashing by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

While Ballard was relieved of his duties by Irsay-Gordon on October 19 following a 2-4 start and an embarrassing loss to the Tennessee Titans, Shannon Sharpe thinks more coaches could be on the chopping block following the 35-point blowout to one of the Colts’ AFC South rivals.

Shannon Sharpe Thinks Carlie Irsay-Gordon Is Primed for More Moves Following Blowout Loss

The Colts have watched their season fall apart rapidly, as evidenced by a pair of blockbuster trades, including defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and guard Quenton Nelson. While the Colts would reportedly prefer to keep running back Jonathan Taylor, his future remains uncertain ahead of the trade deadline.

Sharpe was quick to think Irsay-Gordon may be making more moves throughout the week after firing longtime general manager Chris Ballard a few weeks back, posting, “Mrs. Irsay about 2 (to) more fire some more ppl (people).”

Head coach Shane Steichen was brought to Indianapolis following his success working with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, helping develop the former second-round pick into one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks.

The hope was that Steichen would do the same with quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. and then with Daniel Jones when Richardson struggled to find success. With the offense continuing to struggle, is Steichen coming to the end of his time with the Colts?

According to PFN’s Offense Impact Metric, the Colts rank in the bottom half of the league at 18th with a score of 73.1.

Jones has struggled mightily this season as well, ranking as the 32nd overall QB out of 34 in PFN’s QB Impact Metric with an impact score of 64.7.

While a four-game losing streak is tough to endure, having two embarrassing losses to divisional rivals in a three-game span can leave a sour taste in an owner’s mouth.

Firing Steichen now may not improve anything over the next ten weeks, and delaying the inevitable won’t help either. If the move isn’t made after the loss, struggles over the next four weeks should make a Week 13 bye-week firing a no-brainer.
