Technically, even with a 3-4 record, the Los Angeles Rams' lofty goal of winning their second Super Bowl championship this decade is still very much within reach. However, for now, they have to weather an injury storm of adversity that has likely held back their early-season ceiling. All-world defender Myles Garrett hasn't played since Week 1 after knee surgery. Meanwhile, star receiver Davante Adams is out for the foreseeable future after rupturing his hamstring late last month.
It is Adams' status that is particularly in focus, given how the Rams are built around Matthew Stafford and their potent offense. After suffering the injury on Sunday, October 18th, Adams recently underwent a procedure with the aim of expediting his recovery and return to the field during the stretch run of this season. When might he finally come back, you might ask?
That's a good question. It depends entirely on the Rams' schedule.
With the Rams believing that Adams' recovery timeline will be on the short end of the initial diagnosis (a.k.a. roughly six weeks instead of 10 weeks), he very well could come back for Los Angeles' Thanksgiving Eve home game against the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday, November 25th. Of course, given the nature of Adams' tricky soft-tissue injury, there is a good chance the Rams elect to give him a little extra rest. Knowing that, a home date against the Kansas City Chiefs the following week on Thursday, December 3rd, would also make logical sense.
Barring a setback, I wouldn't expect Adams' absence to last any longer given the optimism the Rams are projecting right now. Take comfort, Rams fans and fantasy managers of Adams. He shouldn't be gone too long.
