The Seattle Seahawks put forth an elite defensive performance versus the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7. They defeated the Andy Reid-coached team 20-3 in primetime. Seahawks defensive back Nick Emmanwori was among the defense's star performers.
It was the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era that the Chiefs did not score a single touchdown. Former Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker was also totally shut out. Mike Macdonald's unit put on an absolute clinic.
Emmanwori aligned all over the formation. Pro Football Focus credited him with allowing one reception in coverage on six targets for seven yards. The former South Carolina standout also had two pressures as a blitzer off the edge.
Brady Henderson from ESPN posted a string of clips that highlighted Emmanwori's dominance. In one clip, the 35th overall selection can be seen forcing an errant throw on a blitz that ended with a Ty Okada interception. On another, Emmanwori sets the edge while lining up at defensive end. He also covers Xavier Worthy stride-for-stride, forcing an incompletion.
Emmanwori's versatility arguably makes him the defense's most important player. The future Pro Bowl safety does everything for Macdonald's defense. Emmanwori was an absolute stud in a big-time spot versus the Chiefs.
