Sunderland transfer deal confirmed as £33m target emerges amid Newcastle United links to key midfielder

Sunderland have confirmed a loan extension as a £33m midfield target emerges and Newcastle are linked with Noah Sadiki

Sunderland have been linked with a move for Almería midfielder Stefan Dzodic, while fresh reports have named several clubs monitoring Noah Sadiki.

Elsewhere, young defender Fin Holcroft will continue his development away from Wearside after extending his loan at Spennymoor Town. Here is the latest Sunderland transfer news, including a confirmed loan extension and the latest reported interest in midfield reinforcements.

Fin Holcroft extends Spennymoor loan

Fin Holcroft has extended his loan spell at Spennymoor Town until January 2027 after impressing during his opening month at The Brewery Field. The 19-year-old Sunderland defender joined the National League North club at the beginning of October, becoming Peter Hartley’s first signing as first-team manager.

His initial agreement was due to expire at the beginning of November, but the clubs have agreed to extend his stay following a productive start. Holcroft has featured in every game since arriving, making six appearances and scoring with a powerful strike away at Harborough Town in the FA Cup. The extension gives the youngster further opportunities to gain senior experience, with regular competitive football providing an important next step in his development.

Sunderland linked with £33m midfielder

Sunderland are among several Premier League clubs monitoring Almería midfielder Stefan Dzodic, according to TEAMtalk. The report claims Atlético Madrid are positioning themselves for a move for the 21-year-old, although a switch to England has not been ruled out.

Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton are also credited with interest in the Serbian international, who is reportedly contracted to the Spanish club until 2032. TEAMtalk states that Dzodic’s deal contains a release clause worth approximately £33million, giving an indication of the potential cost of pursuing the midfielder.

The interested English clubs are said to have followed his progress since his free transfer from Montpellier in 2025 and his emergence as a regular in Almería’s midfield. However, the report describes scouting interest rather than a Sunderland bid or an agreement to bring him to Wearside.

Liverpool and Newcastle linked with Sadiki

Noah Sadiki is attracting attention from Liverpool, Newcastle United and several leading European clubs, according to a report from Hooligan Soccer, shared by sports journalist Ekrem Konur, who has worked for notable publications like Marca and ESPN. His report claims Liverpool have identified the Sunderland midfielder as a potential addition, while Newcastle are also monitoring his situation.

Juventus, Napoli and Atlético Madrid are named among the other interested clubs, although the report states that no concrete talks have taken place with Sunderland. Sadiki’s contract runs until June 2030, leaving the Black Cats in a strong negotiating position should any interest develop into an approach.

Hooligan Soccer claims Sunderland would seek a starting figure of approximately £45million to £50million, alongside performance-related add-ons and a sell-on clause. That remains a reported valuation rather than a publicly confirmed asking price from the club.

The report also cites a Transfermarkt estimate of around £33million, which should be distinguished from any fee Sunderland might demand. For now, the claimed interest remains at the monitoring stage, with no confirmed offer or negotiations. Sadiki’s importance to Sunderland would make any potential departure a significant decision, and the probability of a move to Newcastle United directly from Wearside is just about impossible.
