Bayern Munich hosted Arsenal at home for a group stage fixture in the UEFA Champions League. Missing key players, the expectations were low and most were ok with a draw. However, as the game evolved, expectations rose and Bayern were expected to win the game.
After Arsenal conceded a penalty due to a handball, Harry Kane stepped up to take it from the spot and as expected, he scored. Bayern were winning 2-1 and it felt like three points were in the bag. However, Arsenal managed to lock Bayern down, gain possession and score the equalizer. Bayern could hardly get ahold of the ball and as a result, could not find a third goal.
Players echoed the same sentiment — Bayern should have won the game. Tom Bischof spoke afterward, sharing his disappointment.
“When you go into the lead in the second half, then you’re of course disappointed when you don’t take the three points. I thought we had good phases, especially in the second half,” Bischof said, as reported by @iMiaSanMia. “We played well, but Arsenal is also a good team, they put us under pressure towards the end of the game.”
Bischof finds positives and takes them wherever he can, stating he was happy to be playing. “I was happy to be on the pitch, we had a good performance and should’ve taken our chances to win the game,” he emphasized.
