Fernando Alonso has revealed that Aston Martin already understands the problems affecting its performance, although the Spaniard admitted that not everything can be disclosed publicly. The two-time Formula 1 world champion remains confident that improvements are coming, despite acknowledging that the team needs to make progress in every area of its car.

Alonso insists Aston Martin understands its problems

Speaking to the media ahead of the United States Grand Prix, Alonso was asked whether the difficulties experienced with Honda's turbo could continue to occur. The Spaniard dismissed concerns about the situation, insisting that the team knows which areas need improvement.

"It's not a concern. I think, obviously, we need to face the media Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and we cannot tell you everything," Alonso explained.

"We know what we have to improve, what we need to improve, and things are very clear. We are all together. And I think there are good things coming for the future."

The Spaniard then emphasised that the team has already identified its weaknesses, suggesting that the challenge is now to implement the necessary improvements rather than simply understand what is going wrong.

"First is understanding the problems. Problems are understood. Areas of improvement are understood. If we can say all or not, that's a different story."

Alonso's comments come after another disappointing weekend for Aston Martin in Singapore, where the team expected to be more competitive. The Spaniard admitted that he had anticipated a stronger performance, but the difficulties became apparent during the opening sessions.

Aston Martin needs improvements in every area

Despite his confidence that the problems are understood, Alonso acknowledged that Aston Martin's current package remains some way behind the leading teams. The Spaniard made clear that the weaknesses are not limited to Honda's power unit, with the chassis also requiring significant improvements.

"Rest assured that we are all aware of the things, both chassis and engine. We need to improve in everything. We need to go faster in the corners, and we need to go faster on the straights. That's the way it is in Formula 1. That's what we see on the GPS. If we compare to the fast cars, we need to improve in every area, and we are working on that."

With six races remaining in the season, Alonso does not expect major changes to the competitive order. He confirmed that Aston Martin's car will remain largely unchanged for the final rounds, leaving the team focused on extracting the maximum performance from its existing package.
