It leaves Town five points above the relegation zone, but they do have two games in hand on second-bottom Immingham Town.

Bradford side Rovers were on song from the start at Myra Shay and they opened the scoring after just two minutes courtesy of Reece Thompson.

Route One captain Muhammad Arshad produced a rocket of a shot to double his side’s advantage, before Lamin Drammeh made the score 3-0 just after the half-hour mark.

Thompson netted his second goal of the day moments before the interval to realistically end the game as a contest.

Substitute Ebaraema Suko netted a fifth goal for Rovers, but Ilkley did not roll over.

And they got their rewards late on, Dan Clark-Coates scoring from the penalty spot to make the score 5-1.

Town had the last word too, Alex Stewart scoring again for the visitors five minutes from time.
