The loss to Feyenoord and the win over Fiorentina, scoring a goal and providing an assist in the latter. If Chelsea were watching last night, they will have seen Paz prove he is Como’s gamechanger once again.
Como went to Torino on Tuesday night. A tricky game for Fabregas’ side, with Torino in good form and Scotland international Che Adams scoring goals. Torino took the lead, with Adams netting once again.
He nutmegged Robert Sanchez to open the scoring, with the Chelsea loanee handed his third outing for the Italian outfit. Hardly his fault, but it took the genius of Paz to save Como from defeat, albeit late on.
On 60 minutes, Sanchez pulled off a remarkable save from a Torino corner to tip an effort onto the bar. Then, Paz’s magic. His gorgeous deep cross found another Chelsea target, Jacobo Ramon, to head home.
The equaliser came in the 81st minute, and five minutes later, Paz rose highest to head home a second for Como. Martin Baturina made it three late on, but it was Paz who changed the game once again for Como.
Paz has now taken his tally to 11 goals and assists in 11 games, having got two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over Manchester United. He also scored for Argentina, netting in Messi’s final-ever Argentina game.
When it comes to the world’s best young players, Paz is right up there. Fabregas is thriving as Como boss and Paz is playing a key role in that. He creates more chances per 90 minutes than Palmer and Rogers.
But if Chelsea are going to sign him, he is going to cost a fortune. Real Madrid have a buyback clause of around £70m, and right now, that seems cheap. It would be a shock if Madrid did not decide to sign him.
Even if it was just to earn a profit. Chelsea would have to pay north of that figure to stand a chance of getting Paz, with Chelsea fans desperate to see the club lure the Argentine to the Premier League.
