The Atlanta Falcons are back to work following their upset win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7. On Wednesday, the team returned to the practice field to begin preparation for this Sunday's showdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
It sounds like Atlanta is still dealing with a few key injuries going into Week 8. According to longtime Falcons beat reporter D. Orlando Ledbetter, linebacker Divine Deablo and Brian Robinson Jr. were nowhere to be seen during the open period of Wednesday's practice.
Deablo (forearm injury) and Robinson (hamstring) both missed Sunday's game against the 49ers. Fortunately for Atlanta, rookie linebacker Kendal Daniels did an outstanding job replacing Deablo as the defense's green-dot wearer in Week 8.
Daniels came down with a game-clinching interception and recovered a fumble to put a bow on the 29-20 victory.
Robinson was replaced by practice squad running back Khalil Herbert, who also played well against San Francisco. Herbert had a couple of nice returns and a 19-yard catch that set up an early Falcons touchdown.
Defensive back Billy Bowman Jr., who also missed Sunday's win with a hamstring injury, was missing from Wednesday's practice as well, per beat reporter Daniel Flick.
On the bright side, the Falcons did get two players back. Wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus and rookie cornerback Avieon Terrell returned to practice after sitting out Week 7.
Check back on Wednesday afternoon for the Falcons' first full injury report of NFL Week 8.
