Roma are working on a new contract with Mario Hermoso, whose contract expires in June 2027.
The Spaniard, who also played a key role against Sassuolo with the game-opening goal, has become a key figure for Gasperini, who wants to keep him in the capital.
According to La Repubblica, negotiations for a contract extension are already well underway. The coach had focused on Hermoso since his arrival at Trigoria, finding in the Spaniard a defender capable of playing various roles.
A central defender in a three-man defense, but also a full-back and an additional attacking player, the 1995-born player has adapted to the coach’s demands, becoming a constant presence in the Giallorossi lineup.
The numbers confirm the Spaniard’s impact on Gasperini’s Roma. Between the league and the Champions League, Hermoso only missed the match against Cagliari, also scoring three goals against Atalanta, Slovan Bratislava, and Sassuolo. The last came with a run into the box and a left-footed strike that left Muric no chance.
His performance on the pitch is matched by his role in the locker room, where Hermoso is considered one of the core members of the team. Gasperini appreciates his attitude and would like to continue working with him beyond the natural expiration of his contract. Discussions regarding a renewal have therefore begun, with the aim of reaching an agreement to continue working together.
