Pittsburgh Steelers left guard Mason McCormick was called for a personal foul on Jared Verse on an extra point after Rico Dowdle’s touchdown run in the first quarter.

McCormick threw Verse to the ground after he leaped to block the extra point. To say the least, it was a pretty soft call on McCormick. He was just reacting to Verse leaping.

Verse and McCormick have a history.

Verse went at it with the Steelers’ offensive line all night in Week 4. He swung at Mason McCormick after a missed field goal by Chris Boswell in the second quarter. No flag was called on the play.

“I was talking to them crazy. I was telling them, ‘You’re double-teaming, y’all sliding, y’all garbage.’ I don’t got no respect for anybody that plays too dirty and does too much extra s*** after the game,” Verse said after the Week 4 win. “I can’t wait to see them again. It’s going to be a good time when I see them again.”

Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward responded to Verse’s claim on The Rich Eisen Show on Monday.

“Double teaming, sliding, chipping, are those not allowed in our game? Yeah, I got the bruises to prove it. But we don’t whine about it, baby. It’s part of the game,” Heyward said on The Rich Eisen Show on Tuesday. “And so, I’m looking forward to this game. It’s gonna be a fun game. Both teams are in position to do a lot of work in this division, as they say. The AFC North is on fire and I’m glad I’m in the kitchen because I like it that way. But those are words that were said and they will be addressed.”

Verse clapped back when speaking with the Cleveland media.

“I’m the same as I’ve always been. I’m just going in ready to dominate,” Verse said on Thursday, via Ashley Bastock of Cleveland.com. “Obviously I’ve been waiting for this one for a good little bit. The whole bulletin board material and things like that. I’m just ready to put (my) hands on them. I’m just gonna keep it simple like that.

“I’m not worried about Cam. I’m not worried about their O-line. I’m not worried about nobody on their team. We’re out there to dominate. We’re about to make Pittsburgh ours on Sunday.”
