It wasn't the most pristine performance from the Bruins in the Week 9 win over Nevada. However, they did manage to get the job done and improve to 8-0 on the season.
Fans had plenty to say about the performance they witnessed Saturday evening as concerns popped up all over the field throughout the game, specifically in the first half.
Ucla offense needs some work. They should be smoking Nevada

Ucla offense way too conservative, they have to be, w this rook QB. Gonna be really tough to win the last few games.

While the Bruins came out with the result that they wanted, they didn't come away from the matchup without generating some very real concerns. UCLA’s offense looked sloppy and slow in the first half, which is something that has been a pattern for this team throughout the season.
At UCLA game. UCLA up 17-0 at half. Offense is sucking up the energy in first half by poor showing. Bags missing fg just cherry on top. Defense showing out outscoring offense 10-7. UCLA offense needs to make statement second half.

UCLA offense is wretched

Fans were quick to criticize the product they saw from the offense, as the team had no rhythm in the first two frames. Some fans even had the opinion that UCLA could be in trouble when they face a more premier defense than what they saw today. UCLA is heading towards its toughest stretch of schedule it's seen all season, and it could be troublesome for the Bruins if they continue to struggle as an offense.
Ucla ain’t going to get far struggling against Nevada lol

UCLA defense is insane 👀

On the other side of the ball, UCLA’s defense looked dominant once again. In all facets, the Bruins' defense kept this game at a distance from Nevada and didn’t allow them to gain any momentum throughout the game.
UCLA's defense made life very difficult for Nevada's quarterbacks. Nevada tested out three different passers in the action after the Bruins held Nevada's passing game in check all day long.
Nevada qb has more completions to ucla than to Nevada lol

In addition to UCLA's pass rush being effective, the secondary did as they've done all season long by generating four takeaways on the day to propel them to the Week 9 victory.
2 drives for the UCLA defense, two takeaways. Just another Saturday around here…

Three interceptions for UCLA as Derrick Barksdale takes it home for a house call.

A very scary sight on Halloween if you're a Nevada fan.
Overall, the display against Nevada was a part of a pattern that Bruins fans have witnessed all season long. UCLA's offense has struggled to gain rhythm and consistently be productive, while UCLA's defense has continually improved throughout the season and been a consistent contributor to the Bruins' perfect record.
If the UCLA offense could back up the defense today, that would be great.

It's been a point of emphasis for Bob Chesney this season that the Bruins have needed to find consistency in all four quarters, in all facets of the game. Through eight games, I'm not sure that we've quite seen both the offense and defense play a truly complete game in all four quarters. Moving forward, it will be imperative that UCLA is able to find a solid level of consistency if they want to reach the heights of college football.
