Fans were left seething with Prime Video after the streamer failed to show the national anthem before this week's Thursday Night Football showcase.

The Chicago Bears defeated the New England Patriots, 30-24, in impressive fashion, with Caleb Williams throwing for 308 yards and two touchdowns, outduelling Drake Maye. The Bears improved to 5-2 on the season while the Patriots dropped to 4-3 in the highly competitive matchup.

That said, Prime Video took some flak for skipping the national anthem in favor of commercials, even though a moment of silence was observed for Chicago legend Mike Ditka after his passing. It was just part of a plagued broadcast, with fans calling for a commentator to retire after "hallucinating" a play.

"#TNF @PrimeVideo not showing the national anthem so they can squeeze in another commercial is a failure. My 4 year old son was confused and disappointed and so am I. Shameful," one fan wrote on X following the streaming giant's decision to skip one of the more recognizable parts of any NFL broadcast.

Another added, "Did Amazon prime just cut away from the national anthem to play commercials? That’s despicable."

Two more fans were flabbergasted by the decision to do away with the Star-Spangled Banner, with the first posting, "So Prime doesn’t show the national anthem for NFL games anymore?” The other fan wrote, "We were just robbed of a national anthem presentation."

Al Michaels on Amazon Prime Video's Thursday Night Football

By and large, the reception toward Prime Video skipping the national anthem was negative, with fans unsure as to why the decision was made to go to commercial.

What's more, longtime commentator Al Michaels was ripped by viewers, who claimed he was "hallucinating" as they continued to call for the 81-year-old's retirement. Midway through the first quarter, Michaels mistakenly claimed that running back Corey Kiner lost the ball despite the fact that he maintained control of it.

Fans quickly took to social media to bash Michaels, with one writing, “Did Al Michaels just hallucinate a fumble?” Another replied: "He sure did."

"AL MICHAELS HAS COMPLETELY LOST IT... There was no fumble. Not even close to being a fumble," another viewer wrote on social media in response to Michaels' faux pas. "I guess we are at the ‘Al Michaels completely invents a fumble’ portion of the program," another added.

Additionally, Ryan Fitzpatrick, one of the faces of Thursday Night Football, took a moment to amend his statement that Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix was being "disrespectful to the quarterback position" with how he's played so far this season.

On the Fitz & Whit podcast, Fitzpatrick stated, "The line about being disrespectful to the quarterback position, it boiled over, and that’s the one phrase I wish I could have taken back, because I think my criticism was fair.

"I don’t think the effort and the competitiveness that he’s shown in the past, I don’t think he was showing that at the end of the game. That is somewhere I usually don’t go, but that’s what I felt.”

In all, it seemed as if Prime Video's broadcast of this week's Thursday Night Football left much to be desired on multiple fronts.
