Rams have 4 of NFL's top 10 cornerbacks based on PFF grading

It’d be incredibly difficult to find a position group in the NFL that has improved more than the Los Angeles Rams’ cornerbacks since last season. Sean McVay and Les Snead made a concerted effort to bolster that unit in the offseason by acquiring Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, and the returns have been substantial.

McDuffie and Watson are both playing like Pro Bowlers, and the guys behind them – Josh Wallace and Emmanuel Forbes Jr. – have been excellent when called upon.

This post from Pro Football Focus shows just how great the Rams’ cornerback group has been all years. According to PFF, the Rams have four of the NFL’s 10 highest-graded corners, including Mcduffie at No. 2 with an overall grade of 89.8.

Forbes is seventh (80.8), Watson is eighth (80.7) and Wallace is 10th (77.3). No other team has more than one corner in the top 10.

The Rams have allowed the fourth-fewest passing yards and the eighth-fewest net yards per attempt this season, and the cornerback group is a big reason for that. They're sticky in coverage and when receivers do make catches against them, they're not missing tackles.

McDuffie and Watson are two outstanding tacklers on the back end, and Wallace, a converted safety, isn't afraid to throw his weight around, either.

The Rams couldn't have asked for a bigger improvement from their cornerbacks this season, showing that their aggressiveness in the offseason paid off.
