Musselburgh Athletic chasing Scottish Cup third round place

Postponements and inactivity meant that only half of the teams played last weekend.

Among those sidelined were Musselburgh Athletic, who travel to Hill of Beath Hawthorn for their rescheduled Scottish Cup tie.

League action is the focus for the remaining county sides, with Tranent hosting Bo’ness United in Lowland League East.

Dunbar United are at home in the top flight of the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL) as they host Newtongrange Star.

Haddington Athletic head to Edinburgh South while Thornton Hibs is the destination for Preston Athletic.

Finally, in the Second Division, Ormiston Primrose travel to West Lothian to face Livingston Community.

Match of the Day

Hill of Beath Hawthorn v Musselburgh Athletic

Scottish Cup – Second Round

Kick-off 3pm

STORM Boelo forced the cancellation of Musselburgh’s scheduled Scottish Cup tie seven days ago.

Now, they are hoping for better luck as they return to Keirs Park.

Both teams know that a victory means a home clash with Airdrie in the next round.

The hosts will start as favourites but Musselburgh will be keen to spring a surprise.

Tranent v Bo’ness United

Lowland League East

Kick-off 3pm

ROBBIE Horn’s Tranent look to get back to winning ways after consecutive defeats.

Weather conditions last week at Clydebank were far from ideal as Tranent lost out in the Scottish Cup.

Focus is back on the league now and it is a congested top five in Lowland League East.

Tranent sit second in the table behind Broxburn Athletic, who went top with a win in midweek.

Dunbar United v Newtongrange Star

East of Scotland Football League Premier Division

Kick-off 2.30pm

A PROMISING season for Dunbar United continues when they welcome Newtongrange Star to New Countess Park.

The Seasiders sit fourth in the table – one place above their visitors.

A win for Darren Smith’s men would keep them very much in the group trying to chase down Camelon Juniors.

Newtongrange travel having played a game more than Dunbar and sitting three points adrift.

Edinburgh South v Haddington Athletic

East of Scotland Football League Premier Division

Kick-off 2pm

INCONSISTENCY has left Haddington Athletic in mid-table.

Five wins and five defeats from the opening 12 games means the Hi Hi’s sit seventh alongside Edinburgh University.

Edinburgh South sit 12th in the standings but only four points adrift.

A home win could allow Haddington to edge clear of the mid-table pack.

Thornton Hibs v Preston Athletic

East of Scotland Football League Premier Division

Kick-off 2pm

IN-FORM Preston Athletic have rebounded well following a tough start to the season.

It took until league fixture number six for the Pennypit club to pick up three points.

Since then, they have lost just once to move away from the foot of the table.

Thornton Hibs, who defeated Haddington last time out, will look to dent that form and move above them in the rankings.
