The Philadelphia 76ers had to do without a couple of their key players against the Charlotte Hornets, but they still got the job done.

LeBron James was left out of the side for lower-back management, while Joel Embiid was also absent for right foot plantar fascia management.

Tyrese Maxey stepped up and delivered, but he received sufficient help from the other players who played at the Spectrum Center on Halloween night.

Dean Wade is one of them.

Tyrese Maxey impressed after hearing Dean Wade got 10 assists vs Hornets

All the talk after the Philadelphia 76ers’ 109-104 win over the Charlotte Hornets was about Maxey and his incredible performance.

VJ Edgecombe, who scored his second clutch three-pointer in two games, has also received a lot of praise for stepping up when it mattered.

However, Wade was quietly brilliant too, recording 10 assists and five rebounds. That return seemed to surprise Maxey when he heard it after the game.

In the locker room, NBCS Philly were conducting an interview with Dean, where it was mentioned that he picked up 10 assists against the Hornets.

A very surprised Maxey overheard that, interrupted the interview and asked: “Dean, you got 10 assists?”

Wade replied: “10 assists, baby. Career high!”

Maxey then said: “I should’ve grabbed the ball. That’s hard!”

When you take out superstars like James and Embiid, you need other players on the roster to step up. Wade definitely did that against the Hornets.

That quality in depth is one of the many reasons why the Sixers are many people’s pick to reach the NBA Finals this season.
