Greenock wrestler to defend tag titles on home turf

Sam Abu-Hamdeh, who performs as Ahmed Hamdeh, and his partner Xander Davidson, known together as Dirty Money, will defend their championship at Premier British Wrestling’s Maximum Impact show on October 30.

The pair were first crowned tag team championships over a year ago and have been fighting off challengers ever since.

They will battle 'formidable' opponents Alex Parker and Danny Clark of tag team wrestling Airstrike in Greenock Town Hall.

Sam told the Telegraph he's looking forward to the battle.

He said: “It's going to be a massive show for Premier British Wrestling.

“It’s a big event, big matches, and we've been in the ring with Airstrike before. They know us pretty well and we know them pretty well.

"We've got a fairly decent idea of what they're going to do, but they might pull out some other tricks. So we just need to be prepared for anything."

The title match has been developing since June when Airstrike earned the chance to challenge Dirty Money.

Meanwhile Sam and Xander have been busy defending their championships overseas. They competed in Denmark and Germany, and want to keep taking their belts to other countries.

Sam said: “We defended our belts in Denmark and, most recently, Germany a couple of weeks ago.

“We’ve got a mission to defend those championships all over Europe.”

In Germany, Dirty Money faced Skyfall’s Mike Solaris and Evan Eclipse in a 30-minute Ironman main event.

Sam said: “It was a title-versus-title match as well, so there were big stakes. The match ended up in a five to five draw, so we all kept our championships.

“We’re looking to expand into more countries in Europe, as long as we hold on to these belts at Maximum Impact.”

Dirty Money and Airstrike know each other from training at the same wrestling school. They have also fought in Campbeltown and at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.

Sam is the only hometown wrestler in the match and is hoping the cheers from his friends and family can spur him on.

He said: “I feel like I’ve got the home-field advantage. I don’t want to let anybody down, especially my friends and family who are coming to see me.

“It gives me that extra bit of motivation and drive to succeed.”

Tickets are available through Premier British Wrestling’s Eventbrite page and at the door on the night.
