Instant reactions to Alabama's massive Week 10 road win vs. LSU

On Saturday afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide traveled to Baton Rouge for one of their most important games of the entire season, a Week 10 showdown with the LSU Tigers.

A massive matchup with huge College Football Playoff (CFP) implications, it was the Crimson Tide who eventually left Tiger Stadium with a huge win defeating the Tigers, 31-13. With the win, Alabama has won seven of the last eight games in Baton Rouge between the two, with Kalen DeBoer also now 3-0 against LSU, as well as 2-0 inside Tiger Stadium, which emptied early in the fourth quarter for a second-straight game.

Let's take a look at a few instant reactions from Alabama's massive road win at LSU on Saturday afternoon.

Alabama's defense gets huge stops

Undoubtedly the biggest story for the Crimson Tide on Saturday was the defense, who got a number of big stops in key moments throughout the game. Yes, Alabama did surrender 457 total yards of offense to LSU, but stepped up in a huge way when it mattered most. In all, Alabama held LSU to 0-of-4 on fourth downs, 5-of-14 on third down, and forced two turnovers. The Tide's pass rush also finished with four sacks.

Crimson Tide dominate fourth quarter

Plain and simple, Alabama dominated the fourth quarter against LSU. After carrying a 17-13 lead into the game's final quarter, Alabama outscored the Tigers in the fourth, 14-0. Alabama also scored a touchdown on back-to-back drives in the fourth to build their lead, as well as forced either a turnover on downs or punt on all four of LSU's drives.

Ryan Coleman-Williams, returning injured starters make impact

Coming off the bye week, Alabama had a number of injured starters return Saturday in Baton Rouge, many of which went on to make key impacts. Ryan Coleman-Williams had a touchdown, as well as a key punt return, in the win, while Racin Delgatty and Terrance Green also had big games in the trenches.

Alabama inches closer to securing CFP, SEC title berth

With the win, Alabama now improves to 7-2 (5-2 SEC), keeping themselves in prime contention to make the CFP after being ranked No. 5 this past Tuesday night. Alabama also keeps themselves alive for a potential SEC title game berth.
