Dominant India complete ODI series sweep against Zimbabwe

India completed a 3-0 clean sweep over Zimbabwe in the three-match ODI series following a dominant eight-wicket victory in the final game at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara.

In the third ODI, Zimbabwe opted to bat first after winning the toss but struggled against India’s disciplined attack. Left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma dismantled the opposition batting lineup, recording a career-best maiden five-wicket haul with figures of 5/39 in 10 overs.

Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for a modest 131 in 39.5 overs. Modester Mupachikwa top-scored for the visitors with 37, alongside steady contributions from Josephine Nkomo.

Chasing 132 for victory, openers Pratika Rawal and Shafali Verma launched an aggressive counter-attack. Rawal notched an unbeaten 59 off 56 balls, while Verma smashed a lightning-fast 51 off just 26 deliveries.

India comfortably reached 133/2 in 17 overs. The effortless run-chase wrapped up a comprehensive eight-wicket triumph to seal the series sweep.

In the 1st ODI, India set the tone for the series by securing a convincing nine-wicket win after bowling Zimbabwe out for 197. Spinner Shree Charani led the bowling effort with 4/23, before Pratika Rawal scored an unbeaten century (100*) to reach 200/1 in 27.1 overs.

The 2nd ODI saw India post a massive 328/6 on the back of centuries from Harmanpreet Kaur (126) and Deepti Sharma (106*). Zimbabwe fought hard in response, ending their 50 overs on 207 to hand India a 121-run victory.

Pratika Rawal emerged as India’s standout batter across the series, compiling 220 runs including a century and two fifties. On the bowling front, young spinners Vaishnavi Sharma finished as the leading wicket-taker of the series with 9 wickets, while Shree Charani chipped in with 5 wickets to control the middle overs.

For Zimbabwe, Beloved Biza proved to be their most consistent performer with the bat, highlighted by her fighting 62 in the opener. Captain Josephine Nkomo and wicketkeeper Modester Mupachikwa also delivered solid resistance against a strong Indian side.

With these matches played under the ICC Women's Championship 2025–29 cycle, the 3-0 sweep earns India six vital championship points. The points boost lifts India to 7th in the standings table, while Championship debutants Zimbabwe remain near the bottom at 10th position.
