NY Giants Rumor Reveals Biggest Hurdle to Making Trades Before Nov. 10 Deadline

A new report reveals that the New York Giants are being aggressive to make a big move before the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline. However, there are a couple of key hurdles holding up a significant move.

This will be an interesting next week for the Giants. Heading into the Week 9 NFL schedule, they own a 4-2-1 record and sit atop the NFC East standings. This time last year, they were a team that NFL observers thought should be sellers. Now they can take a hard look at the trade market to find upgrades for a run at the division title in the second half.

Heading into the week, recent reports have suggested they are in search of improvements in the backfield and on the defensive line. They were reportedly in on Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons before he was traded to the Chicago Bears. And they have allegedly checked in on a potential trade for Indianapolis Colts superstar Jonathan Taylor.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, “The Giants have been among the most active teams making calls, showing interest in buying from teams willing to sell players.” Yet, they have not completed a move since they traded for former Minnesota Vikings first-round pick JJ McCarthy in September.

Well, Schultz claims that sources have informed him that the key hurdle for the Giants to make a deal is “that the Giants don’t have a 4th- or 5th-round pick in 2027.” They gave up their fifth-round pick in the McCarthy trade, and their fourth in a deal with the Cleveland Browns last year.

‘Big names’ NY Giants could be pursuing in a trade

Yet, that may not be a problem when making a major move, depending on the cost. The NFL insider added in his Tuesday night report that the Giants are “pushing for bigger names who would require higher picks, and seem open to doing that.”

So who could be those big names New York is looking at acquiring? When it comes to running backs, Taylor, Titans RB Tony Pollard, or even Baltimore Ravens star Derrick Henry may cost a first- or second-round pick, which the Giants have for 2027.

When it comes to the defensive line, Tampa Bay Buccaneers tackle Vita Vea, Colts DT Grover Stewart, and possibly Arizona Cardinals EDGE Josh Sweat could be on John Harbaugh and Joe Schoen’s wish list before Nov. 10.
