After helping Detroit (5-2) defeat NFC North division-leading Minnesota (6-1) 19-15 on Sunday at Ford Field, Lions punter Jack Fox has earned Week 8 NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Against a ferocious Vikings defense, the Lions trusted Fox to flip the field on special teams and pin Minnesota deep in their own territory throughout the game. In four punts on Sunday, Fox averaged 46.5 yards, with three downed inside the 20-yard line. His special teams play also gave the Vikings an average starting field position inside their own 15-yard line, the lowest mark in the league in Week 8.
This is Fox’s second career NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honor, after earning the distinction in 2024. It is also the second consecutive NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honor given to a Detroit Lion, as EDGE DJ Wonnum received the accolade in Week 7.
Fox and the Lions will look to keep their momentum going when they travel to Hard Rock Stadium in Coral Gables, Fla., to face the Miami Dolphins (1-6) on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET and will air on CBS with play-by-play Kevin Harlan, analyst Trent Green, and sideline reporter Melanie Collins on the call.
