Matthew Stafford’s wife Kelly called out the NFL for not giving the Rams a “true bye week” this season
Kelly wrote, “After 18 years around this league, even I need a week off during the season…and I have never played a single snap”
The Rams’ bye week will be cut from two weeks to 10 days as they’re scheduled to play on Thanksgiving Eve
Kelly Stafford would like a word with the NFL.
The 37-year-old wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford took to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Nov. 3 with a fiery message for the league about the team’s schedule this season.
The Rams’ scheduled bye week comes in Week 11, but because they play a game on Thanksgiving Eve (Nov. 25), their break is cut to 10 days instead of the typical two weeks.
Kelly went straight to the source, tagging the NFL in her Story with the message: “Just curious to hear the thought process behind making the Rams the only team in the NFL without a true bye week.”
She continued, “Because damn, after 18 years around this league, even I need a week off during the season… and I have never played a single snap.”
Kelly said she’s “tired just watching from the stands” and added, “Can’t imagine how the guys feel,” with a laughing emoji.
She concluded her post, “Anyway, feel free to leave that explanation here,” with a comment box for her followers to reply.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Kelly said she’s treating each season her husband plays as his “last” after 18 years, and called their time in the NFL “a wild, wild ride.”
Kelly shared, “So this season, honestly, we are going to make it to as many games as we can again. You look at every game and you say, ‘Well, this could be the last time that he plays in this stadium,’ or, ‘This is the last time he plays against this team.’ That’s how I’m going to go into it.”
Stafford and the Rams are third in a loaded NFC West division at 4-4.
