Arsenal fans had former manager Unai Emery to thank today as his Aston Villa side saw off Man City in the Premier League’s early kick-off.

Emery once again proved himself to be among the very elite coaches in world football as a double from Nicolas Jackson helped down City at Villa Park.

For Arsenal, it’s now a chance for them to go level on points with City at the summit of the table with a victory at home against Everton.

Naturally, the Gunners fans have been all over the fact that Emery is helping them towards another Premier League title. Indeed, over on social media platform X, Arsenal fans were quick to praise Emery and also, reminisce on his time at The Emirates.

Arsenal fans react to Unai Emery as Aston Villa beat Man City

For many Arsenal fans, there is a feeling that things might have been different under Emery had he had the backing of Mikel Arteta. That, or he simply wasn’t quite ready at that time to deliver.

Now, though, Emery is at the top of the class when it comes to Premier League managers and Arsenal fans have been singing his praises on X.

“The way big clubs underestimate Unai Emery is unclear to me. That man is the foundation of Arsenal current transformation and now doing wonders with Aston villa with back to back European qualification,” one Gunner wrote.

While another backed the notion that he could have succeeded at Arsenal.

“Emery might be one of the most underrated coaches. I think it would have worked well for him and Arsenal if they had given him more time and backed him as they are currently doing with Arteta.”

Another interesting point Arsenal fans made was the fact that Arsenal manage to do well against Villa under Emery, given everyone else seems to struggle.

“The fact that Arteta took Arsenal to the Villa Park and beat Aston Villa with a clean sheet needs to be studied. Maresca and Manchester City couldn’t even see a point there. Unai Emery you genius”

“We don’t give Arteta credit enough for beating this Emery Aston Villa side, they absolutely schooled Maresca Manchester City today.. Arsenal beat Villa at their ground without breaking a sweat, Arteta still very the most tactical manager in the premier league and that’s why he will win the premier league again this season,” another Gooner wrote.

While one fan continued with the point on Emery being backed at Arsenal.

Clearly, this result could represent a massive swing in the title race.

Now, it’s over to Arsenal to do the business and increase the pressure on City further.
