LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil Receives 'Massive' Bonus

The future of LIV Golf appears to be in serious doubt. However, that’s not stopping the CEO of the golf league from profiting in a big way.

CEO Scott O’Neil is still doing quite well.

According to a report from Golf Digest, court documents show that O’Neil was given a $6.375 million retention bonus on June 24. Meanwhile, CFO David Phillips was given a $3.3 million bonus, and chief legal officer John Ruzich was awarded a $2.6 million bonus. Back in September of 2025, former CEO Greg Norman received a $9.6 million payment in thanks to a $5.8 million settlement and $3.6 million bonus.

The future of LIV Golf, meanwhile, remains up in the air.

LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau remains committed, though, as the league eyes LIV 2.0.

“I think there’s a lot of potential moving forward. It’s been an interesting ride, that’s for sure,” DeChambeau said. “Everything that we’ve gone through and the tough moments that we’ve had. But it’s made us stronger. … As much as we’re transitioning from LIV 1.0 to 2.0, I have great thoughts about what could happen next year. I wish I could be more up front about it.”

“The reality is I’m so focused on what I can do for the game that somebody saying something online or to me personally in my face is not going to distract me from the mission that I have,” DeChambeau added while appearing at LIV Golf Korea. “I hope people can understand that, that my goal is bigger than just winning every tournament every single week. Do I want to win every week? 100 percent. Do I care about the game sometimes more than my own life? Yeah. Because I see what it can do for people’s lives. That’s ultimately why I care so much and I’m so passionate and I want the best for everybody.”

Ian Poulter confirms he’s leaving LIV Golf

Ian Poulter, meanwhile, has confirmed that he’s leaving.

“I have decided to not move forward with being part of LIV 2.0,” Poulter said in a lengthy post on X.

“Needless to say, it was a tough decision and one I thought about and discussed at length with my family and team.”

It’ll be fascinating to see how the league progresses from here.
