Inter produced a convincing response at Feyenoord. The result gives the team its first away win in the competition this season and moves it into the play-off places.

Inter took on Feyenoord at De Kuip on Tuesday night without Lautaro Martinez, who is injured, and Alessandro Bastoni, who was suspended. Bastoni was the only player from either side listed as suspended. The game in Rotterdam kicked off at 9:00 p.m. local time. The match on November 3 was part of matchday 4 in the 2026/27 league phase.

The previous outing had ended in a 3-1 derby defeat to Milan. It was Inter’s second Champions League win in a row. Before Rotterdam, Inter had suffered a run of away defeats in the competition. That run ended emphatically with three goals and a clean sheet. Feyenoord stay 30th in the league-phase table.

Spence’s delivery set up a fast start in Rotterdam

Yann Bisseck opened the scoring at 7:42 with a left-footed curler into the far corner. Djed Spence supplied the pass. It was the defender’s first goal in the Champions League. The strike was the second-fastest Champions League goal by an Inter defender, Sportmediaset noted. Only Lúcio scored faster, at 5:28 against CSKA Moscow on September 27, 2011.

Spence was involved again for the second goal. His deflected cross reached Pio Esposito, who headed it in. Piotr Zielinski then added the third with a shot from outside the penalty area.

That finish was new for the Polish midfielder. It was his first Champions League goal from outside the box. All eight of his earlier goals in the competition came from inside the area.

Esposito joins Obafemi Martins in exclusive company

Esposito’s header made him only the second Inter player to reach three Champions League goals before turning 22. Obafemi Martins was the first. Esposito’s goals have come against Union Saint-Gilloise, Bodø/Glimt and Feyenoord.

Before Tuesday, the Dutch club had hosted Italian sides six times in the group stage or league phase. Feyenoord won four of those meetings and drew two.

The response came with key players missing. Lautaro strained his left hamstring in the 4-3 Champions League defeat to Club Brugge, ESPN reported. His expected return is the trip to Atalanta on November 22.

Inter’s next Champions League game is at home to Stuttgart on Wednesday, November 25, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. CET. After that come a trip to Borussia Dortmund on December 9, 2026, a home game against Liverpool on January 19, 2027, and a visit to Slovan Bratislava on January 27, 2027.
