Christian Horner at peace with grief after 'shock and anger'

The former Formula One team principal was abruptly axed in July 2025 after more than two decades at the helm, bringing an end to one of the sport’s most successful partnerships.

But 15 months on, Horner says he no longer holds a grudge against those behind the bombshell decision.

Speaking to The i Paper, he said: “Life’s too short to bear grudges, what does it achieve?”

He added: “They made a decision, it was their choice, that’s the reality and I can live with that.”

Horner admitted he initially struggled with his dismissal, saying: “The stages of grief start with shock and anger and I went through the first two phases pretty quickly.”

He previously revealed his daughter Olivia, 11, helped put his Red Bull exit into perspective during one of the darkest periods of his life.

Olivia’s mother and Horner’s former partner, Beverley Allen, died aged 58 following a battle with eye cancer.

Speaking previously on High Performance, he recalled watching his daughter take to the stage at a school awards ceremony despite her grief.

He said: “I stood there and I watched this 11-year-old little girl go onto the stage.

“And I thought, you know what, if she's got the bravery to do that, then what I'm dealing with is nothing.”

The 52-year-old oversaw 124 Grand Prix victories, six constructors’ championships and eight drivers’ titles during his 21-year reign.

Despite drawing a line under the bitter end, Horner has not ruled out an F1 return, saying the sport still feels like a “magnet” pulling him back, although he would only return for the right opportunity.
