Ahead of his highly anticipated clash against Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury has provided an update regarding his future in the sport.

This coming December 11, Tyson Fury will finally fight Anthony Joshua at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, after years of negotiations and talks between the two British heavyweights.

Their highly anticipated heavyweight clash is trending in the right direction and Dana White has said that only 3 matches in history will have a higher gate than Fury vs. Joshua.

And ahead of the fight that fans have been calling for for several years now, ‘The Gypsy King’ has answered whether it will be his final fight in the sport.

Fury claims he wants 12 more fights after Joshua fight

Over the past few years, boxing fans have become familiar with Fury retiring from the sport before then announcing his eventual return. Last year following his losses against Oleksandr Usyk, Fury announced his retirement from boxing, and it wasn’t taken seriously by fans because of his history.

And now ahead of his clash against Joshua, the 38-year-old has answered whether he will be sticking around or whether this will be his last dance for certain. “I’m going to continue. I’ve got two fights left on my contract. I’ll finish the contract off and then probably sign another 10-fight deal. Who knows? If the money’s right I’ll sign another 10 fights, but they’ve got to be quick because I’m getting older,” Fury told IFL TV.

To put that into context, since he returned from his three year hiatus back in 2018, he has fought on average twice a year, meaning if he was to actually fight 12 more times, he would end up retiring from the sport at around age 44, which doesn’t sound impossible.

Despite that, outside of Joshua, there aren’t many options left for Fury. Earlier this month, Daniel Dubois scored an emphatic win over Fabio Wardley, potentially making him an opponent for Fury if ‘The Gypsy King’ beats Joshua this coming December. Although Fury is keen to continue in the sport, fans aren’t entirely convinced by his 12-fight plan, with the widespread consensus being that he will hang up the gloves after his fight against the 37-year-old.
